Dyslexia is a neurological difference in how the brain processes written language. It's NOT about intelligence—many people with dyslexia are brilliant thinkers. It's about the wiring between recognising letter shapes, matching them to sounds, and blending them into words.
Common signs: trouble with phonics, slow reading, mixing up letter order (saw/was), spelling inconsistently, or difficulty tracking words on a page.
Early identification matters. If your child is struggling with reading by end of Year 1, ask the teacher about assessment options.
